Privacy Policy for Kjørebok ENK
The Norwegian version (personvern) is the original.
Last changed: 4 October 2026.
In short
- Your mileage log is on your phone, and in your own iCloud when iCloud is on. We have no server with your data, and you have no account with us.
- The app has no analytics, no advertising, no tracking and no third-party software.
- Some information still has to leave the phone for the app to work: address lookups with Apple, purchases through Apple and a daily download of the rates file from our website. See below.
Who is responsible
The app is provided by MEDTEK KI AS, organisation number 937 565 704, Sandnes, Norway.
The mileage log you keep in the app is yours. You decide what is recorded and what it is used for, and you are the controller of the information in it, for example about customers you enter. MEDTEK KI AS has no access to the data in your mileage log and does not process it on your behalf.

Data stored on the phone
The app stores this locally on the phone, in the app's own storage:
- Trips: times, start and end address, kilometres, category (business, private, commute), purpose, customer and project, supplements, notes and a change log.
- Location and route: the GPS points of trips the app has measured.
- Places, customers and projects you have entered.
- Vehicles and odometer: name, registration number and readings.
- Profile: your name and the business name, whether you are self-employed or an employee, and your choices for reminders and automatic logging.
- Subscription status: whether you have Pro, so the app can show it before the App Store has answered.
- For widgets and the watch: a summary the widgets and the Apple Watch app show: this month's kilometres and amount, the latest trips with address and kilometres, the number of trips waiting, whether a trip is in progress, and whether you have Pro.
iCloud. If you are signed in to iCloud and have not turned iCloud off for the app, a copy of everything above except the summary for widgets and the watch, including the GPS points and the receipt pictures, is stored in your private database in iCloud (CloudKit) at Apple. That is how the log comes back on a new phone, and how several devices with the same Apple Account see the same trips. The database belongs to your Apple Account, not to us: MEDTEK KI AS cannot read it. Apple processes it under Apple's privacy policy. You turn it off in the Settings app under your name → iCloud.
Data that leaves the phone
- Address lookups with Apple. When the app has measured a trip, the coordinates of its start and end are sent to Apple's geocoding service (
CLGeocoder) to find the address. When you search for an address, the search text is sent to Apple Maps search. Apple processes this under Apple's Privacy Policy. - Purchases. The subscription is bought and renewed through the App Store. Apple handles the payment; we get neither card details nor your name. The app only asks the App Store, on the phone, whether you have Pro.
- The rates file. To keep the rates for mileage allowance and deduction up to date, the app can download the file
rates.jsonfrom our website at most once a day, only while the app is open. The request carries no cookies and no identifier for you or the phone, but the host that serves the file sees your IP address, as every website does. The website and the rates file are hosted by Vercel Inc. in the USA, which processes the IP address to deliver the file and for operations and security, under Vercel's privacy policy. In this version the download is not switched on yet. - Apple Watch. If you use the Apple Watch app, the phone sends the summary to the watch, and the watch sends “Start trip” and “Stop” back, with Apple's WatchConnectivity between your own devices.
- Siri and Shortcuts. If you use Siri, Apple processes what you say under Apple's terms.
- What you share yourself. A PDF or CSV you share from the app goes wherever you send it.
Notifications (reminders) are created on the phone and do not go through any server.
Permissions
- Location “While Using” is used to measure trips you start yourself, also when the screen is locked.
- Location “Always” is used only if you turn on automatic logging: the app then notices that you are driving and logs the trip even when the app is closed.
- Motion & Fitness is used, when automatic logging is on, to tell driving from walking. The data is used only on the phone.
- Notifications are used for the reminders you have chosen.
You can change the permissions at any time in the Settings app.
What we do not do
No analytics tools, no crash reports to third parties, no advertising, no tracking across apps or websites, and no selling or sharing of data. Our website uses no cookies and no tracking.
Your rights and deletion
Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) you have the right of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, data portability and to object. Since we do not have the data in your mileage log, you exercise these rights in the app:
- Access and portability: export the mileage log as PDF or CSV.
- Rectification: change trips, customers, vehicles and profile in the app. Changes to trips are written to the trip's change log.
- Erasure: when you delete a trip in the app, it disappears from the list and the totals, but it stays in the database on the phone marked as deleted, with the time, because the audit trail of a mileage log must show that something was deleted. The report shows deleted trips in its change log. To remove everything, delete the app; all data on the phone is then deleted. With iCloud on, the copy in iCloud stays until you delete it in the Settings app under your name → iCloud → Manage Storage. Files you have exported or shared must be deleted where they are.
If you have questions, write to support@medtekki.no. You can also complain to the Norwegian Data Protection Authority, Datatilsynet.
Changes
If we change how the app processes information, we update this policy and the date at the top. Major changes, such as syncing with iCloud, are also mentioned in “What's new” in the App Store.
